Sedimentary Structure Analysis

This electrical image displays convolute bedding due to the expulsion of pore water from loosely packed sand. This sands were deposited in a fluvial environment.

Most sedimentary structures observed by conventional methods can be easily identified from borehole images. According to H. Blatt, G. Middleton and R. Murray, sedimentary structures can be broadly classified as:

1. Current Structures:

Crossbedding, basal Conform, and scour Surface

2. Penecontemporaneous Deformation Structures:

Drape, compaction, slump, load casts, and convolute lamination.

3. Biogenic Structures:

Bioturbation
